Mathematical modeling of air pollution dispersion has been performed for many years to estimate the impact of source emissions on air quality. EPA provides guidance on choosing appropriate computer models, such as COMPLEX I for regulator applications. The agency says several models are suitable for predicting air quality impacts for most situations.
