Technical note: Radiation exposure in depressurization accident of HTTR
The Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute is proceeding with construction of the High-Temperature Engineering Test Reactor (HTTR). Since the HTTR has some characteristics different from light-water reactors (LWRs), the analytical method of radiation exposure in accidents provided for LWRs cannot be applied directly to HTTRs. Therefore an analytical method has been developed to evaluate off-site radiation exposure for design-basis accidents in the HTTR. This article describes the analytical method and the results of radiation exposure in a depressurization accident, which is the most severe accident with respect to radiation exposure among the design-basis accidents of the HTTR. 7 refs., 5 figs., 2 tabs.
