The assessments of water-use contribution to forming the dose burden for people living in the area of the Dnieper River basins
The Dnieper River due to the contamination of radionuclides` fall outs after the Chernobyl accident has become the source of forming the integral dose burden for people living in the area of the Dnieper river basins. In this paper the authors attempted to assay the Dnieper-river as the secondary source of Cs 134, Cs 137 and Sr-90 intake to man`s body through the water trophic pathways, because the Dnieper basin recently is a dominating pathway for the radionuclides` release from the 30-km zone around the Chernobyl NPP. The results obtained show that the collective population dose is equal to 233.39 man.Sv according to studies conducted in 1986--1991. The collective dose for future 70 years is prognosed to be equal to 1380.2 man.Sv.
