Title: Possible criteria for establishing the quality and efficiency of coal combustion

Conference ·
OSTI ID:20013520

Experimental results of pulverized coal combustion and possible criteria for establishing its quality and efficiency are presented in the paper. Experimental investigations of combustion of several types of coals (lignite, sub-bituminous, bituminous) were conducted at the experimental facility using movable blocks swirl burner. For estimation of quality and efficiency of coal combustion, apart from subjective evaluation and measurements in flame, two criteria were used, reactivity index (inverse of fuel number) and so-called pore resistance number. Rankings of investigated coals, based both on experimental results and the values of mentioned criteria, show quite good agreement and point out the possibility of wider use of these criteria.
