With a 1998 deadline looming for electric vehicles to go into mass production (2% of all new cars sold in California, Massachusetts, and New York must not have tail pipe pollution), the major automakers and oil companies have started to attack. This article describes and evaluates charges used in the attacks and the alternative technology possibilities.
