Functionally Gradient Material (FGM) is the material which is gradually changed composition rate of boundary layer of two different materials. And FGMs are developed for the candidate material of space plane, especially for hot structures. SiC/TiC type FGM is one of the heat resistant material and is planned to be tested in high-enthalpy gas flow condition. The purpose of this test is to estimate FGM under the real conditions where it will be exposed, so 2000 K of surface temperature and 1000 K of temperature difference in depth direction are required. In this paper two and/or three dimensional transient thermal/structural analyses of SiC/TiC type FGM are presented. At first analyses of cooling properties were performed to give thermal conditions for analyses. Consequently numerical analyses of temperature distribution and thermal stress were performed with ABAQUS, a finite-element code. The results of temperature distribution and stress distribution in FGM are presented and compared with test results.
