I show that the Wilson loop operator for the SU(N) Yang-Mills gauge connection is exactly rewritten in terms of conserved gauge-invariant magnetic and electric currents through a non-Abelian Stokes theorem of the Diakonov-Petrov type. Here the magnetic current originates from the magnetic monopole derived in the gauge-invariant way from the pure Yang-Mills theory even in the absence of the Higgs scalar field, in sharp contrast to the 't Hooft-Polyakov magnetic monopole in the Georgi-Glashow gauge-Higgs model. Non-Abelian magnetic monopole dominance for SU(3) Wilson loop average

In this paper we express the velocity-dependent, spin-dependent heavy quark potential {ital V}{sub {ital q{bar q}}} in QCD in terms of a Wilson loop {ital W}({Gamma}) determined by pure Yang-Mills theory. We use an effective dual theory of long-distance Yang-Mills theory to calculate {ital W}({Gamma}) for large loops, i.e., for loops of size {ital R}{approx_gt}{ital R}{sub FT}. Interaction of Wilson loops in the confining vacuum

Nonperturbative and perturbative interaction mechanisms of Wilson loops in gluodynamics are studied within the background field formalism. The first one operates when distance between minimal surfaces of the loops is small and may be important for sea quark effects and strong decay processes. The second mechanism -- perturbative interaction in nonperturbative confining background is found to be physically dominant for all loop configurations characteristic of scattering process. It reduces to perturbative gluon exchanges at small distances, while at larger distances it corresponds to the t-channel exchange of (reggeized) glueball states.
