Within the framework of the thermal wave model (TWM), a quantum-like description of longitudinal coherent instabilities of high-energy charged-particle beams in the presence of non-negligible resistive part of the coupling impedance is presented. It is shown that, similarly to previous quantum-like investigations in which only a purely reactive impedance was considered, the longitudinal coherent instability can be described in terms of a modulational instability associated with the nonlinear Schroedinger equation (NLSE) also in the present case. Landau quantization for a neutral particle in the presence of topological defects

In this paper we study the Landau levels in the nonrelativistic dynamics of a neutral particle which possesses a permanent magnetic dipole moment interacting with an external electric field in the curved space-time background with the presence or absence of a torsion field. The eigenfunction and eigenvalues of the Hamiltonian are obtained. We show that the presence of the topological defect breaks the infinite degeneracy of the Landau levels arising in this system. We also apply a duality transformation to discuss this same quantization for a dynamics of a neutral particle with a permanent electric dipole moment.

On the influence of a Rashba-type coupling induced by Lorentz-violating effects on a Landau system for a neutral particle

We study a possible scenario of the Lorentz symmetry violation background that allows us to build an analogue of the Landau system for a nonrelativistic Dirac neutral particle interacting with a field configuration of crossed electric and magnetic fields. We also discuss the arising of analogues of the Rashba coupling, the Zeeman term and the Darwin term from the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects, and the influence of these terms on the analogue of the Landau system confined to a two-dimensional quantum ring. In this work, we discuss the relativistic Landau–He–McKellar–Wilkens quantization and relativistic bound states solutions for a Dirac neutral particle under the influence of a Coulomb-like potential induced by the Lorentz symmetry breaking effects. We present new possible scenarios of studying Lorentz symmetry breaking effects by fixing the space-like vector field background in special configurations. Searching for axionlike particles in flavor-changing neutral current processes [A new flavor of searches for axion-like particles]

Here, we propose new searches for axion-like particles (ALPs) produced in flavor-changing neutral current (FCNC) processes. This proposal exploits the often-overlooked coupling of ALPs to W^± bosons, leading to FCNC production of ALPs even in the absence of a direct coupling to fermions. Our proposed searches for resonant ALP production in decays such as B→K(*)a, a→γγ, and K→πa, a→γγ could greatly improve upon the current sensitivity to ALP couplings to standard model particles. Finally, we also determine analogous constraints and discovery prospects for invisibly decaying ALPs.
