In the nearest vicinity of the critical temperature, types I and II of conventional single-band superconductors interchange at the Ginzburg-Landau parameter κ = 1/√2. At lower temperatures this point unfolds into a narrow but finite interval of κ’s, shaping an intertype (transitional) domain in the (κ,T ) plane. In the present work, based on the extended Ginzburg-Landau formalism, we show that the same picture of the two standard types with the transitional domain in between applies also to multiband superconductors. Nodeless multiband superconductivity in stoichiometric single-crystalline ${CaKFe}_{4} {As}_{4}$

Measurements of the London penetration depth Δλ(T) and tunneling conductance in single crystals of the recently discovered stoichiometric iron-based superconductor CaKFe₄As₄ (CaK1144) show nodeless, two-effective-gap superconductivity with a larger gap of about 6–10 meV and a smaller gap of about 1–4 meV. Having a critical temperature T_c,onset ≈ 35.8 K, this material behaves similar to slightly overdoped (Ba_1–xK_x)Fe₂As₂ (e.g., x = 0.54,T_c ≈ 34 K), a known multigap s_± superconductor. Here, we conclude that the superconducting behavior of stoichiometric CaK1144 demonstrates that two-gap s± superconductivity is an essential property of high-temperature superconductivity in iron-based superconductors, independent of the degree ofmore » substitutional disorder.« less

Fermi-liquid versus non-Fermi-liquid behavior in a two-band model of high-temperature superconductivity

We solve an extended Hubbard model describing a system with two N-fold degenerate bands in the limit of N = infinity. The system exhibits a phase transition from Fermi liquid to non-Fermi liquid as the exchange interaction becomes comparable with the hybridization energy.
