An experimental and theoretical study of the single photoionization cross section of the P⁺ cation of phosphorus is presented. Photoionization (PI) cross sections are instrumental for the determination of abundances in the interstellar medium. The experiment was performed by merging an ion beam with a photon beam. The photon beam was nearly monochromatic and had an energy resolution of 24 meV. Calculations were carried out using the Breit–Pauli R-matrix method. Fully differential single-photon double photoionization of atomic magnesium

The valence-shell double ionization of atomic magnesium is calculated using a grid-based representation of the 3s² electron configuration in the presence of a fully occupied frozen-core configuration of the remaining ten electrons. Atomic orbitals are constructed from an underlying finite-element discrete variable representation that facilitates accurate representation of the interaction between the inner-shell electrons with those entering the continuum. Length and velocity gauge results are compared with recent theoretical calculations and experimental measurements for the total double-, single-, and triple-differential cross sections, particularly at the photon energy of 55.49 eV for the last one. Developing stable cathode materials represents a crucial step toward long-life sodium-ion batteries. P2-type layered oxides are important as cathodes for their reversibility, but their long-term performance in full cells remains a key challenge. Herein, we report Na_0.75Co_0.125Cu_0.125Fe_0.125Ni_0.125Mn_0.5O₂ with an intergrowth of ordered P2 and P3 phases, studied by neutron diffraction and Rietveld refinement.
