Charmed and light pseudoscalar meson decay constants from four-flavor lattice QCD with physical light quarks

We compute the leptonic decay constants f_D+, f_Ds , and f_K+, and the quark-mass ratios m_c=m_s and m_s=m_l in unquenched lattice QCD using the experimentally determined value of f_π+ for normalization. We use the MILC Highly Improved Staggered Quark (HISQ) ensembles with four dynamical quark flavors -- up, down, strange, and charm -- and with both physical and unphysical values of the light sea-quark masses. The use of physical pions removes the need for a chiral extrapolation, thereby eliminating a significant source of uncertainty in previous calculations. Four different lattice spacing ranging from a ≈ 0:06 fm to 0:15 fm are included in the analysis to control the extrapolation to the continuum limit. We reexamine large CP-violating phases in the general minimal supersymmetric standard model, as well as more restricted models. We perform a detailed scan over parameter space to find solutions which satisfy the current experimental limits on the electric dipole moments of the electron, neutron and {sup 199}Hg atom, exploring the allowed configurations of phases and masses, and we attempt to quantify the level of tuning of the parameters necessary to populate the regions of cancellations. A search for supersymmetry involving the pair production of gluinos decaying via third-generation squarks to the lightest neutralino (χ˜⁰₁) is reported. It uses an LHC proton-proton data set at a center-of-mass energy √s = 13 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fb^–1 collected with the ATLAS detector in 2015. The signal is searched for in events containing several energetic jets, of which at least three must be identified as b jets, large missing transverse momentum, and, potentially, isolated electrons or muons.
