Using data samples of 89.5 fb^-1, 711.0 fb^-1, and 121.4 fb^-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e⁺e^- collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV,and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions e⁺e^- → γχ_cj (J = 0, 1, 2) and e⁺e^-→ γη_c. A significant γχ_c1 signal is observed for the first time at cJ s = 10.58 GeV with a significance of 5.1σ including systematic uncertainties. No significant excesses for γχ_c0, γχ_c2, and γη_c final states are found, and we set 90% credibility level upper limits on the Born cross sections (σ_B) at 10.52more »« less

Searches for Higgs boson pair production in the $h h \to b b τ τ$ , $γ γ W W^{*}$ , $γ γ b b$ , $b b b b$ channels with the ATLAS detector

Searches for both resonant and nonresonant Higgs boson pair production are performed in the hh→bbττ, γγWW* final states using 20.3 fb-1 of pp collision data at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. No evidence of their production is observed and 95% confidence-level upper limits on the production cross sections are set. These results are then combined with the published results of the hh→γγbb, bbbb analyses. An upper limit of 0.69 (0.47) pb on the nonresonant hh production is observed (expected), corresponding to 70 (48) times the SM gg→hh cross section.more »« less

We report first measurements of e⁺e^- pair production in the mass region 0.4 between 40 and 60 MeV/c. The absolute cross section of the excess depends weakly on centrality, while those from a theoretical model calculation incorporating an in-medium broadened ρ spectral function and radiation from a quark gluon plasma or hadronic cocktail contributions increase dramatically with an increasing number of participant nucleons. Model calculations of photon-photon interactions generated by the initial projectile and target nuclei describe the observed excess yields but fail to reproduce the pmore » $$\mathbb 2\atop{T}$$ distributions.« less

Searches are performed for resonant and nonresonant Higgs boson pair production in the γγbb¯ final state using 20 fb-1 of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 8 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. A 95% confidence level upper limit on the cross section times branching ratio of nonresonant production is set at 2.2 pb, while the expected limit is 1.0 pb. The difference derives from a modest excess of events, corresponding to 2.4 standard deviations from the background-only hypothesis.
