The possibility of a strongly first-order electroweak phase transition by means of a dimension-six Higgs operator in the Higgs potential of the standard model is studied at finite temperature at the one-loop level. Exact calculation of the one-loop effective Higgs potential at finite temperature suggests that for the Higgs boson with its mass between 115 and 132 GeV the strongly first-order electroweak phase transition is possible if a dimension-six operator is present.

We give an explicit example of a composite Higgs model with a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone Higgs in which the top Yukawa coupling is generated via the partial compositeness mechanism. This mechanism requires composite top partners which are relatively light compared to the typical mass scale of the strongly coupled theory. While most studies of the phenomenology of such models have focused on a bottom-up approach with a minimal effective theory, a top-down approach suggests that that the theory should contain a limit in which an unbroken global chiral symmetry protects the mass of the top partners, and the spectrum of the partnersmore »« less

Two-loop soft anomalous dimensions for single top quark associated production with a W{sup -} or H{sup -}

I present results for the two-loop soft anomalous dimensions for associated production of a single top quark with a W boson or a charged Higgs boson. The calculation uses expressions for the massive cusp anomalous dimension, which are presented in different forms, and it allows soft-gluon resummation at next-to-next-to-leading-logarithm (NNLL) accuracy. From the NNLL resummed cross section I derive approximate NNLO cross sections for bg{yields}tW{sup -} and bg{yields}tH{sup -} at LHC energies of 7, 10, and 14 TeV.

One and two loop anomalous dimensions for the chiral-odd structure function h{sub 1}

Because the chiral-odd structure function h{sub 1} will be measured in the polarized Drell-Yan process, it is important to predict the behavior of h{sub 1} before the measurement. In order to study the Q{sup 2} evolution of h{sub 1}, the authors discuss one and two loop anomalous dimensions which are calculated in the Feynman gauge and minimal subtraction scheme.
