A mimetic discretization of the Abelian Chern-Simons theory is presented. The study relies on the formulation of a theory of differential forms in the lattice, including a consistent definition of the Hodge duality operation. Explicit expressions for the Gauss Linking Number in the lattice, which correspond to their continuum counterparts are given. A discussion of the discretization of metric structures in the space of transverse vector densities is presented. The study of these metrics could serve to obtain explicit formulae for knot an link invariants in the lattice.

A Doubled Discretization of Abelian Chern-Simons Theory

A new discretization of a doubled, i.e., BF, version of the pure Abelian Chern-Simons theory is presented. It reproduces the continuum expressions for the topological quantities of interest in the theory, namely, the partition function and correlation function of Wilson loops. Electrically charged vortices in non-Abelian gauge theories with Chern-Simons term

It is shown that a non-Abelian gauge theory with Higgs fields and the addition of a Chern-Simons term in 2+1 space-time dimensions exhibits finite-energy electrically charged vortex solutions. A novel feature of the vortices is that their electric charge Q-italic is quantized in units of the fundamental charge e-italic, Q-italic/e-italic = n-italic/2 with n-italic an integer, and their angular momentum is J-italic = Q-italic/2e-italic = n-italic/4.

The lattice Abelian Chern-Simons gauge theory

In this paper some properties of the previously proposed lattice version of the Abelian Chern-Simons gauge theory are studied. The lattice analog of BF systems is constructed, and the properties of both theories are found to be in close correspondence with those of the continuous theory. The correspondence with two-dimensional lattice statistical systems is established and the lattice origin of the framing of Wilson loops is shown.
