Here we demonstrate an experimental observation of GHz-scale spin dynamics resolved to sublattice octahedral ( O _h ) tetrahedral ( T _d ) sites in a spinel ferrimagnet, in this case a Mn-ferrite thin film. X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD) are used, in combination with multiplet calculations, to uniquely identify the spectral signature from Mn ^{2 +} and Fe ^{2 + , 3 +} on O _h and T _d lattice sites. Electronic structure and direct observation of ferrimagnetism in multiferroic hexagonal ${YbFeO}_{3}$

The magnetic interactions between rare-earth and Fe ions in hexagonal rare-earth ferrites (h-RFeO3), may amplify the weak ferromagnetic moment on Fe, making these materials more appealing as multiferroics. To elucidate the interaction strength between the rare-earth and Fe ions as well as the magnetic moment of the rare-earth ions, element-specific magnetic characterization is needed. Direct Observation of Dynamic Symmetry Breaking above Room Temperature in Methylammonium Lead Iodide Perovskite

Lead halide perovskites such as methylammonium lead triiodide (CH₃NH₃PbI₃) have outstanding optical and electronic properties for photovoltaic applications, yet a full understanding of how this solution-processable material works so well is currently missing. Previous research has revealed that CH₃NH₃PbI₃ possesses multiple forms of static disorder regardless of preparation method, which is surprising in light of its excellent performance.
