Inspired by a recent study by Iancu, Mueller, and Triantafyllopoulos [Phys. Rev. Lett. 128, 202001 (2022)], we propose semi-inclusive diffractive deep inelastic scattering (SIDDIS) to investigate the gluon tomography in the nucleon and nuclei at small x. The relevant diffractive quark and gluon parton distribution functions (DPDFs) can be computed in terms of the color dipole S-matrices in the fundamental and adjoint representations, respectively.

We study the semi-inclusive hadron production in deep inelastic scattering at small-x.A transverse momentum dependent factorization is found consistent with the resultscalculated in the color-dipole framework in the appropriate kinematic region. The transverse momentum dependent quark distribution can be studied in this processas a probe for the small-x saturation physics. Especially, the ratio of the quark distributions as functions of transverse momentum at different x demonstrates strong dependence on the saturation scale. The Q2 dependence of the same ratio is also studied by applying the Collins-Soper-Sterman resummation method.

QT-RESUMMATION FOR POLARIZED SEMI-INCLUSIVE DEEP INELASTIC SCATTERING.

We study the transverse-momentum distribution of hadrons produced in semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering. We consider cross sections for various combinations of the polarizations of the initial lepton and nucleon or the produced hadron, for which we perform the resummation of large double-logarithmic perturbative corrections arising at small transverse momentum. We present phenomenological results for the process ep {yields} e{pi}X for the typical kinematics in the COMPASS experiment. We discuss the impact of the perturbative resummation and of estimated non-perturbative contributions on the corresponding cross sections and their spin asymmetry.

Measurements in the late 1980s at CERN revealed that quark spins account for a small fraction of the protons spin. This so-called spin crisis spurred a number of new exper?iments to identify the protons silent spin contributors, namely, the spin of the gluons, which hold the quarks together, and the orbital angular momentum of both quarks and gluons.
