Charged mediators in dark matter scattering with nuclei and the strangeness content of nucleons

We consider a scenario, within the framework of the MSSM, in which dark matter is bino-like and dark matter-nucleon spin-independent scattering occurs via the exchange of light squarks which exhibit left-right mixing. We show that direct detection experiments such as LUX and SuperCDMS will be sensitive to a wide class of such models through spin-independent scattering. Moreover, these models exhibit properties, such as isospin violation, that are not typically observed for the MSSM LSP if scattering occurs primarily through Higgs exchange. The dominant nuclear physics uncertainty is the quark content of the nucleon, particularly the strangeness content

Off-diagonal dark-matter phenomenology: Exploring enhanced complementarity relations in nonminimal dark sectors

In the majority of multi-component dark-matter scenarios, two classes of processes generically contribute to event rates at experiments capable of probing the nature of the dark sector. The first class consists of "diagonal" processes involving only a single species of dark-matter particle -- processes analogous to those which arise in single-component dark-matter scenarios. By contrast, the second class consists of "off-diagonal" processes involving dark-matter particles of different species. Such processes include inelastic scattering at direct-detection experiments, asymmetric production at colliders, dark-matter co-annihilation, and certain kinds of dark-matter decay. Measuring a light neutralino mass at the ILC: Testing the MSSM neutralino cold dark matter model

The LEP experiments give a lower bound on the neutralino mass of about 46 GeV which, however, relies on a supersymmetric grand unification relation. Dropping this assumption, the experimental lower bound on the neutralino mass vanishes completely. Recent analyses suggest, however, that in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM), a light neutralino dark matter candidate has a lower bound on its mass of about 7 GeV. Alignment without decoupling: The portal to light dark matter in the MSSM

Here we study light, thermal neutralino dark matter in the sub-GeV to ~65 GeV mass range in the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. We consider realizations of the limit of alignment without decoupling in the Higgs sector where the heavier CP-even Higgs impersonates the observed Higgs state at 125 GeV, while the lighter CP-even Higgs is the mediator of dark matter annihilation.
