Two recent papers reconsider the possibility that the WMAP haze is due to the synchrotron emission originated by neutralino self-annihilation; also upper bounds on the neutralino self-annihilation cross section are suggested. We show that for thermal weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in a standard cosmological model, when the galactic WIMP density is duly rescaled for subdominant WIMPs, the upper bound applicable generically to any signal due to self-conjugate WIMPs is more stringent than the ones obtained from analysis of the WMAP haze. Constraints on WIMP and Sommerfeld-enhanced dark matter annihilation from HESS observations of the galactic center

We examine the constraints on models of weakly interacting massive particle (WIMP) dark matter from the recent observations of the Galactic Center by the High Energy Spectroscopic System (HESS) telescope. We analyze canonical WIMP annihilation into Standard Model particle final states, including b b-bar , t t-bar and W{sup +}W{sup −}. The constraints on annihilation into b b-bar is within an order of magnitude of the thermal cross section at ∼ 3 TeV, while the τ{sup +}τ{sup −} channel is within a factor of ∼ 2 of thermal. In this paper we propose a dark matter model and study aspects of its phenomenology. Our model is based on a new dark matter sector with a U(1)' gauge symmetry plus a discrete symmetry added to the standard model of particle physics. The new fields of the dark matter sector have no hadronic charges and couple only to leptons. Our model cannot only give rise to the observed neutrino mass hierarchy, but can also generate the baryon number asymmetry via nonthermal leptogenesis. Probing the structure of the galactic halo with gamma rays produced by WIMP annihilations

It has recently been pointed out that the annihilations of a class of possible dark matter halo constituents (including photinos, higgsinos, and heavy neutrinos or sneutrinos) within the halo of our galaxy produce a series of narrow gamma-ray lines. If these lines are detected, then the directional dependence of the intensity of the lines provides a very powerful probe of the halo mass distribution, and the local density, core radius, and ellipticity of the halo could be readily determined. We briefly comment on the possibility of detecting WIMP annihilations in the galactic spheroid. 10 refs., 3 figs.
