Distribution of Linearly Polarized Gluons and Elliptic Azimuthal Anisotropy in Deep Inelastic Scattering Dijet Production at High Energy

In this study, we determine the distribution of linearly polarized gluons of a dense target at small x by solving the Balitsky–Jalilian-Marian–Iancu–McLerran–Weigert–Leonidov–Kovner rapidity evolution equations. From these solutions, we estimate the amplitude of cos2Φ azimuthal asymmetries in deep inelastic scattering dijet production at high energies. We find sizable long-range in rapidity azimuthal asymmetries with a magnitude in the range of v₂=~10%.

We continue our studies of possible generalization of the color glass condensate effective theory of high energy QCD to include the high p_t (or equivalently large x) QCD dynamics as proposed in [Phys. Transverse-mass [ital M][sub [perpendicular]] dependence of dilepton emission from preequilibrium and quark-gluon plasma in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions

The dependence on invariant mass [ital M] and transverse momentum [ital q][sub [perpendicular]] of lepton pairs emitted by quarks during the early stage of central collisions between gold nuclei at [radical][ital s] =200[ital A] GeV is investigated within the parton cascade model. For fixed transverse mass [ital M][sub [perpendicular]] between 2 and 3 GeV, the spectrum is thermal shaped at low [ital q][sub [perpendicular]] and exhibits a power law behavior at larger [ital q][sub [perpendicular]]. Gluon production from non-Abelian Weizsaecker-Williams fields in nucleus-nucleus collisions

We consider the collisions of large nuclei using the theory of McLerran and Venugopalan. The two nuclei are ultrarelativistic and sources of non-Abelian Weizseacker-Williams fields. These sources are in the end averaged over all color orientations locally with a Gaussian weight. We show that there is a solution of the equations of motion for the two nucleus scattering problem where the fields are time and rapidity independent before the collision. After the collision the solution depends on proper time, but is independent of rapidity. We show how to extract the produced gluons from the classical evolution of the fields.

Rapidity loss, spin, and angular asymmetries in the scattering of a quark from the color field of a proton or nucleus

We calculate the helicity amplitudes for scattering of a quark from both large and small x gluons of a target proton or nucleus using spinor helicity formalism. We show that scattering from large x gluons of the target results in nonzero spin asymmetry at intermediate p_t as well as rapidity loss of the projectile quark. We comment on how this can also generate angular asymmetries in particle production in high energy collisions.
