Hysteresis from nonlinear dynamics of Majorana modes in topological Josephson junctions

We reveal that topological Josephson junctions provide a natural platform for the interplay between the Josephson effect and the Landau-Zener effect through a two-level system formed by coupled Majorana modes. We build a quantum resistively shunted junction (RSJ) model by modifying the standard textbook RSJ model to take account of the two-level system from the Majorana modes at the junction. We show that the dynamics of the two-level system is governed by a nonlinear Schrödinger equation and solve the equations analytically via a mapping to a classical dynamical problem. Skyrmion control of Majorana states in planar Josephson junctions

Planar Josephson junctions provide a versatile platform, alternative to the nanowire-based geometry, for the generation of the Majorana bound states, due to the additional phase tunability of the topological superconductivity. The proximity induction of chiral magnetism and superconductivity in a two-dimensional electron gas showed remarkable promise to manipulate topological superconductivity. Majorana bound states in a d -wave superconductor planar Josephson junction

We study phase-controlled planar Josephson junctions comprising a two-dimensional electron gas with strong spin-orbit coupling and d-wave superconductors, which have an advantage of a high critical temperature. We show that a region between the two superconductors can be tuned into a topological state by the in-plane Zeeman field, and can host Majorana bound states. The phase diagram as a function of the Zeeman field, chemical potential, and the phase difference between superconductors exhibits the appearance of Majorana bound states for a wide range of parameters. Quantum critical dynamics of a Josephson junction at the topological transition

We find the admittance Y(ω) of a Josephson junction at or near a topological transition. The dependence of the admittance on frequency and temperature at the critical point is universal and determined by the symmetries of the system. Despite the absence of a spectral gap at the transition, the dissipative response may remain weak at low energies: ReY(ω)∝max(ω,T)². This behavior is strikingly different from the electromagnetic response of a normal metal. Away from the critical point, the scaling functions for the dependence of the admittance on frequency and temperature are controlled by at most two parameters.

Anomalous Low-Temperature Enhancement of Supercurrent in Topological-Insulator Nanoribbon Josephson Junctions: Evidence for Low-Energy Andreev Bound States

We report anomalous enhancement of the critical current at low temperatures in gate-tunable Josephson junctions made from topological insulator BiSbTeSe₂ nanoribbons with superconducting Nb electrodes. In contrast to conventional junctions, as a function of the decreasing temperature T, the increasing critical current I_c exhibits a sharp upturn at a temperature T_* around 20% of the junction critical temperature for several different samples and various gate voltages.
