We introduce a complete formulation of the scalar bispectrum in the unified effective field theory(EFT) of inflation, which includes the Horndeski and beyond-Horndeski Gleyzes-Langlois-Piazza-Vernizzi classes, in terms of a set of simple one-dimensional integrals. These generalized slow-rollexpressions remain valid even when slow-roll is transiently violated and encompass all configurationsof the bispectrum. We demonstrate analytically that our expressions explicitly preserve the squeezed-limitconsistency relation beyond slow-roll. As an example application of our results, we compute thescalar bispectrum in a model in which potential-driven G-inflation at early times transitions tochaotic inflation at late times, showing that our expressions accurately track the bispectrum whenslow-rollmore »« less

On non-Gaussianities in multi-field inflation (N fields): bi- and tri-spectra beyond slow-roll

We compute analytic expressions for the non-linearity parameters characterizing the bi- and tri-spectrum of primordial curvature perturbations generated during an inflationary epoch of the early universe driven by an arbitrary number fields. We assume neither slow roll nor a separable potential; instead, to compute Non-Gaussianities, we assume a separable Hubble parameter. We apply the formalism to an exact solvable toy-model and show under which conditions observably large non-Gaussianities are produced.

A statistical approach to multifield inflation: many-field perturbations beyond slow roll

We study multifield contributions to the scalar power spectrum in an ensemble of six-field inflationary models obtained in string theory. We identify examples in which inflation occurs by chance, near an approximate inflection point, and we compute the primordial perturbations numerically, both exactly and using an array of truncated models. The scalar mass spectrum and the number of fluctuating fields are accurately described by a simple random matrix model. During the approach to the inflection point, bending trajectories and violations of slow roll are commonplace, and 'many-field' effects, in which three or more fields influence the perturbations, are often important.more »« less

Non-Gaussianity beyond slow roll in multi-field inflation

We study the non-Gaussianity generated during multiple-field inflation. We provide an exact expression for the bispectrum parameter f{sub NL} which is valid beyond the slow-roll regime, valid for certain classes of inflationary models. We then study a new, exact multi-field inflationary model considering a case where the bispectrum grows to observable values at the end of inflation. We show that in this case the trispectrum is also large and may even provide the dominant signal of non-Gaussianity.
