We apply ideas motivated by string theory to improve the calculational efficiency of one-loop weak interaction processes with massive external gauge bosons. In certain cases supersymmetry'' relations between diagrams with a fermion loop and with a gauge boson loop hold. This is explicitly illustrated for a particular one-loop standard model process with four external gauge bosons. The supersymmetry relations can be used to provide further significant improvements in calculational efficiency.

Renormalizing the gauged Wess-Zumino-Witten Lagrangian to one loop in a one-family technicolor model

We examine the problems of calculating processes to one loop in a Wess-Zumino-Witten model, using one-family technicolor as an example and gauging the QCD subgroup of the chiral symmetry of technifermions. In particular, we examine decay processes of certain technipions, often denoted {ital P}{sup 0{prime}} and {ital P}{sub 8}{sup 0{prime}}. We find that almost all of the ultraviolet divergences cancel. The cancellation of infrared divergences between processes with degenerate final states provides us with a constraint on our renormalization scheme. We also study the effects of different {ital d}-dimensional prescriptions for {epsilon}{sup {mu}{nu}{alpha}{beta}} and {gamma}{sub 5} in dimensional regularization. (Themore »« less

One-loop gauge theory amplitudes with an arbitrary number of external legs

The authors review recent progress in calculations of one-loop QCD amplitudes. By imposing the consistency requirements of unitarity and correct behavior as the momenta of two legs become collinear, they construct ansaetze for one-loop amplitudes with an arbitrary number of external legs. For supersymmetric amplitudes, which can be thought of as components of QCD amplitudes, the cuts uniquely specify the amplitude.

N >= 4 Supergravity Amplitudes from Gauge Theory at One Loop

We expose simple and practical relations between the integrated four- and five-point one-loop amplitudes of N {ge} 4 supergravity and the corresponding (super-)Yang-Mills amplitudes. The link between the amplitudes is simply understood using the recently uncovered duality between color and kinematics that leads to a double-copy structure for gravity. These examples provide additional direct confirmations of the duality and double-copy properties at loop level for a sample of different theories.
