We study the quantum diffusive transport of multivalley massive Dirac cones, where time-reversal symmetry requires opposite spin orientations in inequivalent valleys. We show that the intervalley scattering and intravalley scattering can be distinguished from the quantum conductivity that corrects the semiclassical Drude conductivity, due to their distinct symmetries and localization trends. In immediate practice, it allows transport measurements to estimate the intervalley scattering rate in holedoped monolayers of group-VI transition metal dichalcogenides (e.g., molybdenum dichalcogenides and tungsten dichalcogenides), an ideal class of materials for valleytronics applications. Polarization asymmetries in fermion-(anti)fermion scatterings with Dirac, Pauli, scalar, tensor and axial coupling factors

This paper the general helicity amplitudes and all the polarization asymmetries that have been evaluated for the scattering of two different fermions, two identical fermions, and a fermion-antifermion pair. The interaction includes the electric and magnetic vertices (with coupling parameters e and a, respectively) for vector bosons as well as scalar and tensor couplings. Signatures of coupling between spin waves and Dirac fermions in ${YbMnBi}_{2}$

Here, we present inelastic neutron scattering measurements of magnetic excitations in YbMnBi₂, which reveal features consistent with a direct coupling of magnetic excitations to Dirac fermions. In contrast with the large broadening of magnetic spectra observed in antiferromagnetic metals such as the iron pnictides, here the spin waves exhibit a small but resolvable intrinsic width, consistent with our theoretical analysis. The subtle manifestation of spin-fermion coupling is a consequence of the Dirac nature of the conduction electrons, including the vanishing density of states near the Dirac points. Nonlinear dynamics of topological Dirac fermions in 2D spin-orbit coupled materials

Abstract The graphene family materials are two-dimensional staggered monolayers with a gapped energy band structure due to intrinsic spin-orbit coupling. The mass gaps in these materials can be manipulated on-demand via biasing with a static electric field, an off-resonance circularly polarized laser, or an exchange interaction field, allowing the monolayer to be driven through a multitude of topological phase transitions. We investigate the dynamics of spin-orbit coupled graphene family materials to unveil topological phase transition fingerprints embedded in the nonlinear regime and show how these signatures manifest in the nonlinear Kerr effect and in third-harmonic generation processes. Hot carrier dynamics in the satellite X valley and intervalley scattering in GaAs and AlGaAs

The time evolution of the population of hot electrons in the k 0 satellite X valley in GaAs and AlGaAs has been directly measured for the first time by a femtosecond visible-pump and IR-probe absorption spectroscopy. The L [yields] [Gamma] and X [yields] [Gamma] intervalley scattering was found to act as a source of heating of electrons in the [Gamma] valley. This enables determination of corresponding intervalley scattering rates from the measured carrier dynamics.
