Narrow and wide band tunable absorbers based on gold squares dispersed in liquid crystal

In this paper, the absorption behavior of gold squares with different sizes has been investigated. Our study includes gold squares in two, three and four different sizes dispersed in liquid crystal to propose an absorber with post fabrication tunability. In this case, more than 95% narrow band as well as wide band absorptions have been obtained when two and three sizes of gold squares have been used. Moreover, wide band absorption spectrum with the full width at half maximum of about 0.31 µm has been obtained when there are four different sizes of gold squares in our structure. Incident angle insensitive tunable multichannel perfect absorber consisting of nonlinear plasma and matching metamaterials

A novel, compact, and multichannel nonreciprocal absorber through a wave tunneling mechanism in epsilon-negative and matching metamaterials is theoretically proposed. Nonreciprocal absorption properties are acquired via the coupling together of evanescent and propagating waves in an asymmetric configuration, constituted of nonlinear plasma alternated with matching metamaterial. The absorption channel number can be adjusted by changing the periodic number. Due to the positive feedback between nonlinear permittivity of plasma and the inner electric field, bistable absorption and reflection are achieved. Tunable angle absorption of hyperbolic metamaterials based on plasma photonic crystals

We present the design of a multilayer structure of hyperbolic metamaterials based on plasma photonic crystals which composed of two kinds of traditional dielectric and plasma. The relative permittivity of hyperbolic metamaterials has been studied at certain frequency range. Zone structure and polarization properties of the stack of a metamaterial-based cholesteric liquid crystal and isotropic medium layers

The optical properties of a stack of metamaterial-based cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) layers and isotropic medium layers are investigated. The problem is solved by a modification of Ambartsumian’s layer addition method. CLCs with two types of chiral nihility are defined. The peculiarities of the reflection spectra of this system are investigated and it is shown that the reflection spectra of the stacks of CLC layers of these two types differ from each other.
