A Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (FRW) model is studied in the new scalar-tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Schmidt et al. There is an assumption of a particular functional relationship between the cosmological expansion factor of the FRW model and the scalar field. Exact solutions are given, and it is observed that at least in one case k = -1 it is possible to obtain a model with oscillation between finite limits.

Noether symmetries of some homogeneous universe models in curvature corrected scalar-tensor gravity

We explore Noether gauge symmetries of FRW and Bianchi I universe models for perfect fluid in scalar-tensor gravity with extra term R{sup −1} as curvature correction. Noether symmetry approach can be used to fix the form of coupling function ω(φ) and the field potential V(φ). It is shown that for both models, the Noether symmetries, the gauge function as well as the conserved quantity, i.e., the integral of motion exist for the respective point like Lagrangians. Homogeneous cosmological model in general scalar-tensor theory

Some general results on spatially homogeneous cosmological models are obtained in the general scalar-tensor theory proposed by Nordtvedt and Barker. Cosmological equations for a Bianchi type-I empty universe are solved and the behavior of the model is discussed. It is found that the universe expands from the initial singularity of zero volume and then contracts back. There is a significant difference between the nature of the singularity in this model and that in the corresponding Kasner universe in Einstein's theory.
