We consider bouncing cosmologies in which an ekpyrotic contraction phase with w>>1 is followed by a bouncing phase with w<-1 that violates the null energy condition. The bouncing phase, induced by ghost condensation, is designed to produce a classically nonsingular bounce at a finite value of the scale factor. We show that the initial curvature and anisotropy, though diluted during the ekpyrotic phase, grow back exponentially during the bouncing phase. Moreover, curvature perturbations and anisotropy are generated by quantum fluctuations during the ekpyrotic phase. Evolution of linear perturbations through a bouncing world model: Is the near Harrison-Zel'dovich spectrum possible via a bounce?

We present a detailed numerical study of the evolutions of cosmological linear perturbations through a simple bouncing world model based on two scalar fields. We properly identify the relatively growing and decaying solutions in expanding and collapsing phases. Using a decomposition based on the large-scale limit exact solution of curvature (adiabatic) perturbations with two independent modes, we assign the relatively growing/decaying one in an expanding phase as the C/d-mode. In the collapsing phase, the roles are reversed, and the C/d-mode is relatively decaying/growing. We investigate bouncing solutions in the framework of the nonsingular gravity model of Brandenberger, Mukhanov and Sornborger. We show that a spatially flat universe filled with ordinary matter undergoing a phase of contraction reaches a stage of minimal expansion factor before bouncing in a regular way to reach the expanding phase. The expansion can be connected to the usual radiation- and matter-dominated epochs before reaching a final expanding de Sitter phase. Towards a nonsingular bouncing cosmology

We present a nonsingular bouncing cosmology using single scalar field matter with non-trivial potential and non-standard kinetic term. The potential sources a dynamical attractor solution with Ekpyrotic contraction which washes out small amplitude anisotropies. At high energy densities the field evolves into a ghost condensate, leading to a nonsingular bounce. Following the bounce there is a smooth transition to standard expanding radiation and matter dominated phases. Using linear cosmological perturbation theory we track each Fourier mode of the curvature fluctuation throughout the entire cosmic evolution.
