We study the effect of magnetic fields on the resistance R of a superconducting La{sub 1.84}Sr{sub 0.16}CuO{sub 4} film patterned into a 'double' network comprising nanosized square loops having their vertexes linked by relatively long wires. The results are compared with those obtained in a regular network of square loops of the same size. Both networks exhibit periodic dependence of R on the ratio {Phi}/{Phi}0 between the flux penetrating a loop and the superconducting flux quantum. Fluxoid quantization in disordered, quasiperiodic, and anisotropic superconducting networks

The quantization of the magnetic fluxoid in the unit cells of a network of superconducting wires gives rise to a system with competing length scales determined by the resulting fluxoid lattice and the underlying network. This system provides an excellent experimental model for studying questions concerning the concept of commensurability, and the first emphasis of this thesis is on the formation of commensurate states in disordered and quasiperiodic geometries. We investigate the elastic and plastic behavior of the fluxoid lattice in the saturation region of the global pinning-force density using the ac technique. The specimens were Nb-50-at. % Ta deformed by various amounts. The elastic modulus ..cap alpha.. obtained from the force-distance profile increased with the pinning strength and decreased gradually with increasing magnetic field.
