Title: Search for b→u transitions in B^±→[K^∓π^±π⁰]_DK^± decays

Abstract

We present a study of the decays B^±→DK^± with D mesons reconstructed in the K⁺π⁻π⁰ or K⁻π⁺π⁰ final states, where D indicates a D⁰ or a D¯¯¯0 meson. Using a sample of 474×10⁶ BB¯¯¯ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e⁺e⁻ collider at SLAC, we measure the ratios R^±≡((Γ(B^±→[K^∓π^±π⁰]DK^±))/((Γ(B^±→[K^±π^∓π⁰]DK^±)). We obtain R⁺=(5^⁺12_⁻10(stat)^⁺2_⁻4(syst))×10⁻³ and R⁻=(12^⁺12_⁻10(stat)^⁺3_⁻5(syst))×10⁻³, from which we extract the upper limits at 90% probability: R⁺<23×10⁻³ and R⁻<29×10⁻³. Using these measurements, we obtain an upper limit for the ratio r_B of the magnitudes of the b→u and b→c amplitudes r_B<0.13 at 90% probability.

  abstractNote = {We present a study of the decays B±→DK± with D mesons reconstructed in the K⁺π⁻π⁰ or K⁻π⁺π⁰ final states, where D indicates a D⁰ or a D¯¯¯0 meson. Using a sample of 474×10⁶ BB¯¯¯ pairs collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy e⁺e⁻ collider at SLAC, we measure the ratios R±≡((Γ(B±→[K∓π±π⁰]DK±))/((Γ(B±→[K±π∓π⁰]DK±)). We obtain R⁺=(5⁺12⁻10(stat)⁺2⁻4(syst))×10⁻³ and R⁻=(12⁺12⁻10(stat)⁺3⁻5(syst))×10⁻³, from which we extract the upper limits at 90% probability: R⁺<23×10⁻³ and R⁻<29×10⁻³. Using these measurements, we obtain an upper limit for the ratio rB of the magnitudes of the b→u and b→c amplitudes rB<0.13 at 90% probability.},

Evidence for the suppressed decay $B^{-} \to D K^{-}$ , $D \to K^{+} π^{-} π^{0}$

We report a study of the suppressed decay B^– → DK^–, D → K⁺π^–π⁰, where D denotes either a D⁰ or a D⁰¯ meson. The decay is sensitive to the CP-violating parameter Φ₃. Using a data sample of 772 × 10⁶ BB¯ pairs collected at the Υ(4S) resonance with the Belle detector, we measure the ratio of branching fractions of the above suppressed decay to the favored decay B^– → DK^–, D → K^–π⁺π⁰. We report a study of the suppressed B meson decay B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -} followed by D{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, where D indicates a D{sup 0} or D{sup 0} state. The two decay paths interfere and provide information on the CP-violating angle {phi}{sub 3}. We use a data sample containing 657x10{sup 6} BB pairs recorded at the {upsilon}(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e{sup +}e{sup -} storage ring.
