Evidence for the Suppressed Decay B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -}, D{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}

The suppressed decay chain B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -}, D{yields}K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, where D indicates a D{sup 0} or D{sup 0} state, provides important information on the CP-violating angle {phi}{sub 3}. We measure the ratio R{sub DK} of the decay rates to the favored mode B{sup -}{yields}DK{sup -}, D{yields}K{sup -}{pi}{sup +} to be R{sub DK}=[1.63{sub -0.41}{sup +0.44}(stat){sub -0.13}{sup +0.07}(syst)]x10{sup -2}, which indicates the first evidence of the signal with a significance of 4.1{sigma}. We also measure the asymmetry A{sub DK} between the charge-conjugate decays to be A{sub DK}=-0.39{sub -0.28}{sup +0.26}(stat){sub -0.03}{sup +0.04}(syst). Model-independent measurement of the CKM angle γ using B⁰ → DK*⁰ decays with D→K_S⁰ π⁺π^– and K_S⁰ K⁺K^–

A binned Dalitz plot analysis of the decays B⁰→ DK*⁰, with D → K_S⁰π⁺π^– and D → K_S⁰K⁺K^–, is performed to measure the observables x_± and y_±, which are related to the CKM angle γ and the hadronic parameters of the decays. The D decay strong phase variation over the Dalitz plot is taken from measurements performed at the CLEO-c experiment, making the analysis independent of the D decay model. With a sample of proton-proton collision data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3.0 fb^–1, collected by the LHCb experiment, the values of the CP violation parameters are found to be x₊ = 0.05 ± 0.35 ± 0.02, x_– = –0.31 ± 0.20 ± 0.04, y₊ = –0.81 ± 0.28 ± 0.06 and y_– = 0.31 ± 0.21 ± 0.05, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. First measurement of Φ₃ with a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B^±→DK^±, D→K_S⁰π⁺π⁻ decay

We present the first measurement of the angle Φ₃ of the unitarity triangle using a model-independent Dalitz plot analysis of B^±→DK^±, D→K_S⁰π⁺π⁻ decays. The method uses, as input, measurements of the strong phase of the D→K⁰_Sπ⁺π⁻ amplitude from the CLEO Collaboration. The result is based on the full data set of 772×106 BB¯¯¯ pairs collected by the Belle experiment at the Υ(4S) resonance. We obtain Φ₃=(77.3^+15.1_–14.9±4.1±4.3)° and the suppressed amplitude ratio r_B=0.145±0.030±0.010±0.011.
