Subtractive renormalization of the chiral potentials up to next-to-next-to-leading order in higher NN partial waves

We develop a subtractive renormalization scheme to evaluate the P-wave NN scattering phase shifts using chiral effective theory potentials. This allows us to consider arbitrarily high cutoffs in the Lippmann-Schwinger equation (LSE). We employ NN potentials computed up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in chiral effective theory, using both dimensional regularization and spectral-function regularization. Our results obtained from the subtracted P-wave LSE show that renormalization of the NNLO potential can be achieved by using the generalized NN scattering lengths as input - an alternative to fitting the constant that multiplies the P-wave contact interaction in the chiral effective theory NN force.more »« less

We extend our subtractive-renormalization method to evaluate the {sup 1}S{sub 0} and {sup 3}S{sub 1}-{sup 3}D{sub 1} NN-scattering phase shifts up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in chiral effective theory. We show that, if energy-dependent contact terms are employed in the NN potential, the {sup 1}S{sub 0} phase shift can be obtained by carrying out two subtractions on the Lippmann-Schwinger equation. These subtractions use knowledge of the the scattering length and the {sup 1}S{sub 0} phase shift at a specific energy to eliminate the low-energy constants in the contact interaction from the scattering equation. Next-to-Next-to-Leading-Order Subtraction Formalism in Hadron Collisions and its Application to Higgs-Boson Production at the Large Hadron Collider

We consider higher-order QCD corrections to the production of colorless high-mass systems (lepton pairs, vector bosons, Higgs bosons, etc.) in hadron collisions. We propose a new formulation of the subtraction method to numerically compute arbitrary infrared-safe observables for this class of processes. To cancel the infrared divergences, we exploit the universal behavior of the associated transverse-momentum (q{sub T}) distributions in the small-q{sub T} region. Gluon fragmentation into quarkonium at next-to-leading order using FKS subtraction

We present the calculation at next-to-leading order (NLO) in a_s of the fragmentation function of a gluon into heavy quarkonium in the color-octet spin-singlet S-wave channel. To calculate the real NLO corrections, we adapt a subtraction scheme introduced by Frixione, Kunszt, and Signer. Ultraviolet and infrared divergences in the real NLO corrections are calculated analytically by evaluating the phase-space integrals of the subtraction terms using dimensional regularization. The subtracted phase-space integrals are then evaluated in 4 space-time dimensions. The divergences in the virtual NLO corrections are also calculated analytically.
