We continue our study on the gravity duals for strongly coupled large N QCD with fundamental flavors both at zero and nonzero temperatures. The gravity dual at zero temperature captures the logarithmic runnings of the coupling constants at far IR and the almost conformal, albeit strongly coupled, behavior at the UV. The full UV completion of gauge theory is accomplished in the gravity side by attaching an anti-de Sitter cap to the IR geometry described in our previous work. Towards the gravity dual of quarkonium in the strongly coupled QCD plasma

We build a 'bottom-up' holographic model of charmonium by matching the essential spectral data. We argue that these data must include not only the masses but also the decay constants of the J/{psi} and {psi}{sup '} mesons. Relative to the 'soft-wall' models for light mesons, such a matching requires two new features in the holographic potential: an overall upward shift as well as a narrow 'dip' near the holographic boundary. We calculate the spectral function as well as the position of the complex singularities (quasinormal frequencies) of the retarded correlator of the charm current at finite temperatures. The equilibration of matter and onset of hydrodynamics can be understood in the AdS/CFT context as a gravitational collapse process, in which 'collision debris' create a horizon. In this paper we consider the simplest geometry possible, a flat shell (or membrane) falling in the holographic direction toward the horizon. The metric is a combination of two well-known solutions: thermal AdS above the shell and pure AdS below, while motion of the shell is given by the Israel junction condition. Toward the AdS/CFT gravity dual for high energy collisions. I. Falling into the AdS space

In the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence we discuss the gravity dual of a high energy collision in a strongly coupled N=4 SYM gauge theory. We suggest a setting in which two colliding objects are made of nondynamical heavy quarks and antiquarks, which allows one to treat the process in classical string approximation. Collision 'debris' consist of closed as well as open strings. If the latter have ends on two outgoing charges, they are being 'stretched' along the collision axes.
