Mixing angles and electromagnetic properties of ground state pseudoscalar and vector meson nonets in the light-cone quark model

Both the mass spectra and the wave functions of the light pseudoscalar ({pi},K,{eta},{eta}{sup {prime}}) and vector({rho},K{sup {asterisk}},{omega},{phi}) mesons are analyzed within the framework of the light-cone constituent quark model. A Gaussian radial wave function is used as a trial function of the variational principle for a QCD-motivated Hamiltonian which includes not only the Coulomb plus confining potential but also the hyperfine interaction to obtain the correct {rho}-{pi} splitting. For the confining potential, we use the (1) harmonic oscillator potential and (2) linear potential and compare the numerical results for these two cases. Ground-state spectrum of light-quark mesons

A confining, Goldstone theorem preserving, separable ansatz for the ladder kernel of the two-body Bethe-Salpeter equation is constructed from phenomenologically efficacious u, d, and s dressed-quark propagators. The simplicity of the approach is its merit. It provides a good description of the ground-state flavor-octet pseudoscalar, vector, and axial-vector meson spectrum facilitates an exploration of the relative importance of various components of the two-body Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes, showing that subleading Dirac components are quantitatively important in the flavor-octet pseudoscalar meson channels, and allows a scrutiny of the domain of applicability of ladder truncation studies. Dissociation cross sections of ground-state and excited charmonia with light mesons in the quark model

We present numerical results for the dissociation cross sections of ground-state, orbitally- and radially-excited charmonia in collisions with light mesons. Our results are derived using the nonrelativistic quark model, so all parameters are determined by fits to the experimental meson spectrum. Examples of dissociation into both exclusive and inclusive final states are considered. The dissociation cross sections of several C=(+) charmonia may be of considerable importance for the study of heavy ion collisions, since these states are expected to be produced more copiously than the J/{psi}.
