$D$ -meson semileptonic decays to pseudoscalars from four-flavor lattice QCD

We present lattice-QCD calculations of the hadronic form factors for the semileptonic decays D → πℓν, D → Kℓν, and D_s → Kℓν. Our calculation uses the highly improved staggered quark (HISQ) action for all valence and sea quarks and includes N_f = 2 + 1 + 1 MILC ensembles with lattice spacings ranging from a ≈ 0.12 fm down to 0.042 fm. At most lattice spacings, an ensemble with physical-mass light quarks is included. The HISQ action allows all the quarks to be treated with the same relativistic light-quark action, allowing for nonperturbative renormalization using partial conservation of the vector current. We combine our results with experimental measurements of the differential decay rates to determine |V_cd|^{D → π} = 0.2238(11)^Expt (15)^QCD (04)^EW (02)^SIB[22]^QED and |V_cs|^{D → K} = 0.9589 (23)^Expt (40)^QCD (15)^EW (05)^SIB[95]^QED. This result for |V_cd| is the most precise to date, with a lattice-QCD error that is, for the first time for the semileptonic extraction, at the same level as the experimental error. Using recent measurements from BES III, we also give the first-ever determination of |V_cd|^{D_s → K} = 0.258(15)^Expt (01)^QCD[03]^QED from D_s → Klν. Semileptonic decays B{r_arrow}{pi}l{nu} and D{r_arrow}{pi}l{nu} from lattice QCD

We present a lattice QCD calculation of the form factors and differential decay rates for semileptonic decays of the heavy-light mesons B and D to the final state {pi}l{nu}. The results are obtained with three methodological improvements over previous lattice calculations: a matching procedure that reduces heavy-quark lattice artifacts, the first study of lattice-spacing dependence, and the introduction of kinematic cuts to reduce model dependence. We show that the main systematics are controllable (within the quenched approximation) and outline how the calculations could be improved to aid current experiments in the determination of {vert_bar}V{sub ub}{vert_bar} and {vert_bar}V{sub cd}{vert_bar}.

Three-body unitarity versus finite-volume $π^{+} π^{+} π^{+}$ spectrum from lattice QCD

Strong three-body interactions above threshold govern the dynamics of many exotics and conventional excited mesons and baryons. Three-body finite-volume energies calculated from lattice QCD promise an ab initio understanding of these systems. We calculate the three-π⁺ spectrum unraveling the three-body dynamics that is tightly intertwined with the S-matrix principle of three-body unitarity and compare it with recent lattice QCD results. For this purpose, we develop a formalism for three-body systems in moving frames and apply it numerically.

B{yields}{pi}l{nu} semileptonic form factor from three-flavor lattice QCD: A model-independent determination of |V{sub ub}|

We calculate the form factor f{sub +}(q{sup 2}) for B-meson semileptonic decay in unquenched lattice QCD with 2+1 flavors of light sea quarks. We use Asqtad-improved staggered light quarks and a Fermilab bottom quark on gauge configurations generated by the MILC Collaboration. We simulate with several light-quark masses and at two lattice spacings, and extrapolate to the physical quark mass and continuum limit using heavy-light meson staggered chiral perturbation theory.
