Peer-to-Peer Communication at Science-Forums.Net
As search tools like DOE/OSTI’s federated search continue to provide access to greater quantities of information, the importance of collaboration and trust increases. Organization and study tools need to facilitate group exchange. Groups must also be able to establish authenticity, expertise, and establish common language.
Science-Forums.Net is a highly customized Drupal site. The site is being developed by Information International Associates and is funded by a DOE Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant. The purpose is to demonstrate Peer2Peer communications, personal libraries, and organic formation and invitation to groups. The audience is likely to be very similar to the academic and research users targeted by OpenScholar.
Some key customizations and features are:
- custom form validation and feedback
- custom login
- XML data service consumer
- Dublin Core metadata input and output

I like the site from what I've seen so far, although I'm a bit of a layman, so I'm not too sure what everything means yet! Thanks for the article!
