E-Print Network (OSTI)

We formulate and discuss a number of conjectures on the ground state vectors of the XYZ-spin chains of odd length with periodic boundary conditions and a special choice of the Hamiltonian parameters. In particular, arguments for the validity of a sum rule for the components, which describes in a sense the degree of antiferromagneticity of the chain, are given.

Molecular structures in charmonium spectrum: The $XYZ$ puzzle

E-Print Network (OSTI)

We study in the framework of a constituent quark model the possible contributions of molecular structures to the XYZ charmonium like states. We analyze simultaneously the $c\\bar{c}$ structures and the possible molecular components in a formalism which allows us to treat channels below and above thresholds. The only molecular state found in the $1^{++}$ sector correspond to the X(3872). Molecular resonances also appear with other quantum numbers. So, the so called Y(3940) and the X(3915) are suggested to be $J^{PC}=0^{++}$ charmonium states. In the $J^{PC}=1^{--}$ sector we also found significant contributions of the molecular structures which can affect the phenomenology.

The IEA/ECBCS/Annex 40 Glossary on Commissioning

E-Print Network (OSTI)

International Energy Agency's (IEA) Energy Conservation in Building and Community Systems' (ECBCS) Annex 40 has developed a glossary of commissioning terms as one of the first commissioning tools produced within the annex. The glossary consists of four major sections: 1) definition of basic terms, 2) explanation of basic terms, 3) commissioning types, and 4) commissioning process. These sections, which were originally developed to facilitate Annex 40 discussions, are now incorporated into an on-line database system. This on-line tool is publicly available on the Annex 40 website and enables users to search for specific definitions and provides links for more detailed explanations, related terms, and existing reference definitions. Using this database system many documents developed in Annex 40 have been actively linked to the glossary for direct access to the definitions. In addition, during the development and review process for the glossary, users are able to submit suggestions for new terms, translations, and other modifications. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the glossary and database system developed in Annex 40 and to invite users to participate in the public review of the glossary before publication of the final report.

Glossary Term - Beta Decay

NLE Websites -- All DOE Office Websites (Extended Search)

Avogadro's Number Avogadro's Number Previous Term (Avogadro's Number) Glossary Main Index Next Term (Beta Particle) Beta Particle Beta Decay Beta decay results in the emission of an electron and antineutrino, or a positron and neutrino. Beta decay is one process that unstable atoms can use to become more stable. There are two types of beta decay, beta-minus and beta-plus. During beta-minus decay, a neutron in an atom's nucleus turns into a proton, an electron and an antineutrino. The electron and antineutrino fly away from the nucleus, which now has one more proton than it started with. Since an atom gains a proton during beta-minus decay, it changes from one element to another. For example, after undergoing beta-minus decay, an atom of carbon (with 6 protons) becomes an atom of nitrogen (with 7 protons).

During electron capture, an electron in an atom's inner shell is drawn into the nucleus where it combines with a proton, forming a neutron and a neutrino. The neutrino is ejected from the atom's nucleus. Since an atom loses a proton during electron capture, it changes from one element to another. For example, after undergoing electron capture, an atom of carbon (with 6 protons) becomes an atom of boron (with 5 protons). Although the numbers of protons and neutrons in an atom's nucleus change

SNODOG Glossary: Part 1, Introduction

SciTech Connect

The SNODOG Glossary is used by the DOE-supported life-span beagle studies to describe medical observations in a standardized format. It is an adaptation of the human medical glossary, SNOMED, which lists 107,165 terms. Each of the five laboratories, Argonne National Laboratory, the Inhalation Toxicology Research Institute, the Pacific Northwest Laboratory, the University of California at Davis, and the University of Utah, has selected an appropriate subset from the published SNOMED glossary and added beagle and research-specific terms. The National Radiobiology Archives is the coordinator of these enhancements, and periodically distributes SNODOG to the respective laboratories. Information donated by Colorado State University and Oak Ridge National Laboratory has been related to SNODOG and is available in a standardized format. This document is designed for the database manager and the scientist who will be managing or coding medical observations. It is also designed for the scientist analyzing coded information. The document includes: an overview of the NRA and the SNODOG glossary, a discussion of hardware requirements, a review of the SNODOG code structure and printed lists of the 4,770 terms which have been used at least once. Instructions for obtaining electronic copies of the glossary and for nominating additional terms are provided. This document describes the origins and structure of the SNODOG codes, explains code usage at each participating institution, and presents a usage frequency tabulation of the terms for neoplasia. A diskette or magnetic tape containing 15,641 SNODOG codes and translations is available on request.

Feature article: adoption of an official ISEA glossary

SciTech Connect

The International Society for Exposure Analysis (ISEA) and its Nomenclature Committee have been involved since the mid-1990s in an intermittent but ongoing effort to develop an official ISEA glossary. Several related activities have stimulated greater interest and discussion nationally and internationally on a common exposure language. Among these activities are a 1997 Journal of Exposure Analysis and Environmental Epidemiology feature article on exposure and dose definitions and a 1999-initiated project of the International Programme on Chemical Safety (IPCS) (WHO/ILO/UNEP) to confront terminology issues hindering harmonization in the area of exposure assessment. Recently the ISEA members voted in support of adopting the IPCS glossary as the official ISEA glossary, and the ISEA Executive Board agreed to accept this recommendation. In this feature article we (1) describe the process through which the ISEA adopted the IPCS glossary as the official ISEA glossary, (2) present the joint IPC S/ISEA glossary of terms and their definitions, and (3) discuss plans for how the glossary can be used by ISEA and updated over time by ISEA and IPCS. The glossary is intended to be a living document that reflects the latest usage and maintains international harmonization of exposure terminology that can be practically applied to improve communication in exposure and related fields.

Electrons are transferred from the felt to the belt as the belt pulls away from the pulley. The electrons ride the belt to the upper dome, where a pick-up wire transfers them from the belt to the dome. Each electron carries a negative charge and, since like charges repel, the electrons on the dome attempt to get as far away from each other as possible. At some point, too many electrons are placed on the dome. When this occurs the electrons attempt to reach the earth by leaping

Extending Metadata Definitions by Automatically Extracting and Organizing Glossary Definitions

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Metadata descriptions of database contents are required to build and use systems that access and deliver data in response to user requests. When numerous heterogeneous databases are brought together in a single system, their various metadata formalizations must be homogenized and integrated in order to support the access planning and delivery system. This integration is a tedious process that requires human expertise and attention. In this paper we describe a method of speeding up the formalization and integration of new metadata. The method takes advantage of the fact that databases are often described in web pages containing natural language glossaries that define pertinent aspects of the data. Given a root URL, our method identifies likely glossaries, extracts and formalizes aspects of relevant concepts defined in them, and automatically integrates the new formalized metadata concepts into a large model of the domain and associated conceptualizations.

Video Glossary of Scientific Terminology from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

DOE Data Explorer (OSTI)

References to scientific publications, whatever the specific field, are filled with terminology that may be new to the layperson. A standard dictionary may not help, and a scientific dictionary can often be just as esoteric in its definition as the original term was. The Video Glossary from Berkeley Lab allows users to see and hear a real scientist not only define and explain a term in plain language, but put it into context. Why is this term important and what's it related to? Terms such as cp violation, geologic carbon sequestration, biofuels, and many others are clearly explained or illustrated. The Video Glossary is growing daily and welcomes suggestions from users.

In this paper, we describe a method of automatic extraction of knowledge patterns using in term descriptions from glossary, and using them to extract term description from technical texts. A brief introduction of the problem will be presented. After that, knowledge patterns and related works are discussed. By statistical analysis, we will show that these patterns can be learned, and we will propose a method to learn these pattern based on discover collocation of important verbs and nouns represent main concepts in the domain. Evaluation have been made showing that using the method, we can extract half of the correct descriptions, with a noise just one third. 1.

Wang OIS glossary package for reformatting documents telecommunicated to the OIS system

SciTech Connect

Documents that are composed on a computer and then transmitted by telecommunications into a Wang Office Information System (OIS) word processing system need to be reformatted and cleaned up before they can be used properly as word processing documents suitable for further revisions or additions. This report describes a group of glossary entries created for the Wang OIS which simplifies the job of cleaning up telecommunicated documents. This glossary is a semi-automated process designed to eliminate most of the tedious work needed to be performed in removing extra spaces and returns, adjusting formats, moving material, repagination, using tabs or indents, and similar problems. The report briefly discusses the problems, describes the glossary approach to solving them, and gives instructions for actually using the glossary entries.

Interim performance criteria for photovoltaic energy systems. [Glossary included

DOE Green Energy (OSTI)

This document is a response to the Photovoltaic Research, Development, and Demonstration Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-590) which required the generation of performance criteria for photovoltaic energy systems. Since the document is evolutionary and will be updated, the term interim is used. More than 50 experts in the photovoltaic field have contributed in the writing and review of the 179 performance criteria listed in this document. The performance criteria address characteristics of present-day photovoltaic systems that are of interest to manufacturers, government agencies, purchasers, and all others interested in various aspects of photovoltaic system performance and safety. The performance criteria apply to the system as a whole and to its possible subsystems: array, power conditioning, monitor and control, storage, cabling, and power distribution. They are further categorized according to the following performance attributes: electrical, thermal, mechanical/structural, safety, durability/reliability, installation/operation/maintenance, and building/site. Each criterion contains a statement of expected performance (nonprescriptive), a method of evaluation, and a commentary with further information or justification. Over 50 references for background information are also given. A glossary with definitions relevant to photovoltaic systems and a section on test methods are presented in the appendices. Twenty test methods are included to measure performance characteristics of the subsystem elements. These test methods and other parts of the document will be expanded or revised as future experience and needs dictate.

Search Combinators

E-Print Network (OSTI)

The ability to model search in a constraint solver can be an essential asset for solving combinatorial problems. However, existing infrastructure for defining search heuristics is often inadequate. Either modeling capabilities are extremely limited or users are faced with a general-purpose programming language whose features are not tailored towards writing search heuristics. As a result, major improvements in performance may remain unexplored. This article introduces search combinators, a lightweight and solver-independent method that bridges the gap between a conceptually simple modeling language for search (high-level, functional and naturally compositional) and an efficient implementation (low-level, imperative and highly non-modular). By allowing the user to define application-tailored search strategies from a small set of primitives, search combinators effectively provide a rich domain-specific language (DSL) for modeling search to the user. Remarkably, this DSL comes at a low implementation cost to the...

The GovStat Statistical Interactive Glossary (SIG)

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Introduction The websites of U. S. statistical agencies provide statistical information on a wide range of American life, ranging from unemployment to crop prices to birth rates. Like other complex information resources, they are not always easy to use, especially for inexperienced or nonexpert users. One of the problems that people have in using statistical information is that the level of statistical knowledge (also known as statistical literacy) in the general population is low. People's lack of statistical knowledge is a barrier to many important tasks: searching for information, deciding which of several kinds of statistics they need, understanding the meaning of table, row, and column titles, understanding what a specific number means, interpreting the meaning of a time series, and so on. In response to this need, a component of our NSF-funded project "Integration of Data and Interfaces to Enhance Human Understanding of Government Statistics: Toward the National Statistical Know

B.: Tackling the internet glossary glut: Automatic extraction and evaluation of genus phrases

E-Print Network (OSTI)

This paper addresses the problem of developing methods to be used in the identification and extraction of meaningful semantic components from large online glossaries. We present two sets of results. First, we report on the algorithm, ParseGloss, which was used to analyze definitions, and extract the main concept, or genus phrase. We ran the system on over 12,000 online glossary entries. Second, we present a method to evaluate our results, using human judgments on a collection of definitions from six different sources. This paper discusses our approach to the evaluation process, since the creation of a standard for evaluation is in itself a contribution to the field. The methods we have developed have required addressing the significant challenges of abstracting a single gold standard from multiple naive, human judgments on a highly subjective task. Once the method for creating the standard was developed, we then established the gold standard data. We report on our performance in running ParseGloss over this controlled collection of definitions. Our first set of results presents precision and recall on system performance. Our second results are presented in terms of techniques for determining agreement between human subjects. Success in the ParseGloss algorithm will contribute to the automatic creation of ontologies.

Higgs Searches

SciTech Connect

We present the status and prospects of Higgs searches at the Tevatron and the LHC. Results from the Tevatron are using up to 5 fb{sup -} of data collected with the CDF and D0 detectors. The major contributing processes include associated production (WH {yields} l{nu}bb, ZH {yields} {nu}{nu}bb, ZH {yields} llbb) and gluon fusion (gg {yields} H {yields} WW{sup (*)}). Improvements across the full mass range resulting from the larger data sets, improved analyses techniques and increased signal acceptance are discussed. Recent results exclude the SM Higgs boson in a mass range of 160 < m{sub H} < 170 GeV. Searches for the neutral MSSM Higgs boson in the region 90 < m{sub A} < 200 GeV exclude tan {beta} values down to 30 for several benchmark scenarios.

Association search in semantic web: search + inference

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Association search is to search for certain instances in semantic web and then make inferences from and about the instances we have found. In this paper, we propose the problem of association search and our preliminary solution for it using Bayesian network. We first minutely define the association search and its categorization. We then define tasks in association search. In terms of Bayesian network, we take ontology taxonomy as network structure in Bayesian network. We use the query log of instances to estimate the network parameters. After the Bayesian network is constructed, we give the solution for association search in the network.

Sure success partial search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Partial search has been proposed recently for finding the target block containing a target element with fewer queries than the full Grover search algorithm which can locate the target precisely. Since such partial searches will likely be used as subroutines for larger algorithms their success rate is important. We propose a partial search algorithm which achieves success with unit probability.

Quantum search with resonances

E-Print Network (OSTI)

We present a continuous time quantum search algorithm analogous to Grover's. In particular, the optimal search time for this algorithm is proportional to $\\sqrt{N}$, where $N$ is the database size. This search algorithm can be implemented using any Hamiltonian with a discrete energy spectrum through excitation of resonances between an initial and the searched state. This algorithm is robust and, as in the case of Grover's, it allows for an error $O(1/\\sqrt{N})$ in the determination of the searched state. A discrete time version of this continuous time search algorithm is built, and the connection between the search algorithms with discrete and continuous times is established.

Anytime Heuristic Search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

We describe how to convert the heuristic search algorithm A* into an anytime algorithm that finds a sequence of improved solutions and eventually converges to an optimal solution. The approach we adopt uses weighted heuristic search to find an approximate solution quickly, and then continues the weighted search to find improved solutions as well as to improve a bound on the suboptimality of the current solution. When the time available to solve a search problem is limited or uncertain, this creates an anytime heuristic search algorithm that allows a flexible tradeoff between search time and solution quality. We analyze the properties of the resulting Anytime A* algorithm, and consider its performance in three domains; sliding-tile puzzles, STRIPS planning, and multiple sequence alignment. To illustrate the generality of this approach, we also describe how to transform the memory-efficient search algorithm Recursive Best-First Search (RBFS) into an anytime algorithm.

Faceted Semantic Search for Personalized Social Search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Actual social networks (like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, ...) need to deal with vagueness on ontological indeterminacy. In this paper is analyzed the prototyping of a faceted semantic search for personalized social search using the "joint meaning" in a community environment. User researches in a "collaborative" environment defined by folksonomies can be supported by the most common features on the faceted semantic search. A solution for the context-aware personalized search is based on "joint meaning" understood as a joint construal of the creators of the contents and the user of the contents using the faced taxonomy with the Semantic Web. A proof-of concept prototype shows how the proposed methodological approach can also be applied to existing presentation components, built with different languages and/or component technologies.

The Language of Search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

This paper is concerned with a class of algorithms that perform exhaustive search on propositional knowledge bases. We show that each of these algorithms defines and generates a propositional language. Specifically, we show that the trace of a search can be interpreted as a combinational circuit, and a search algorithm then defines a propositional language consisting of circuits that are generated across all possible executions of the algorithm. In particular, we show that several versions of exhaustive DPLL search correspond to such well-known languages as FBDD, OBDD, and a precisely-defined subset of d-DNNF. By thus mapping search algorithms to propositional languages, we provide a uniform and practical framework in which successful search techniques can be harnessed for compilation of knowledge into various languages of interest, and a new methodology whereby the power and limitations of search algorithms can be understood by looking up the tractability and succinctness of the corresponding propositional l...

Intermittent search strategies

E-Print Network (OSTI)

This review examines intermittent target search strategies, which combine phases of slow motion, allowing the searcher to detect the target, and phases of fast motion during which targets cannot be detected. We first show that intermittent search strategies are actually widely observed at various scales. At the macroscopic scale, this is for example the case of animals looking for food ; at the microscopic scale, intermittent transport patterns are involved in reaction pathway of DNA binding proteins as well as in intracellular transport. Second, we introduce generic stochastic models, which show that intermittent strategies are efficient strategies, which enable to minimize the search time. This suggests that the intrinsic efficiency of intermittent search strategies could justify their frequent observation in nature. Last, beyond these modeling aspects, we propose that intermittent strategies could be used also in a broader context to design and accelerate search processes.

Correlations in Grover search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Grover search is a well-known quantum algorithm that outperforms any classical search algorithm. It is known that quantum correlations such as entanglement are necessary for the power of quantum computation. But entanglement is not the only kind of quantum correlations. Other quantum correlations such as quantum discord are also useful to capture some aspects of the nonclassical correlation. We investigate several kinds of correlations including both quantum and classical in the whole process of Grover search algorithm. These correlations are the concurrence, entanglement of formation, quantum discord, classical correlation and mutual information. The behaviors of quantum discord, classical correlation and mutual information are almost the same while the concurrence is different. When the search is over, all kinds of correlations are zero, we argue that this is necessary for the final step in the search.

Binary Quantum Search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Database search has wide applications and is used as a subroutine in many important algorithms. We shall consider a database with one target item. Quantum algorithm finds the target item in a database faster than any classical algorithm. It frequently occurs in practice that only a portion of information about the target item is interesting, or we need to find a group of items sharing some common feature as the target item. This problem is in general formulated as search for a part of the database [a block] containing the target item, instead of the item itself. This is partial search. Partial search trades accuracy for speed, i.e. it works faster than a full search. Partial search algorithm was discovered by Grover and Radhakrishnan. We shall consider optimized version of the algorithm and call it GRK. It can be applied successively [in a sequence]. First the database is partitioned into blocks and we use GRK to find the target block. Then this target block is partitioned into sub-blocks and we use GRK again to find the target sub-block. [We can call it binary quantum search.] Another possibility is to partition the database into sub-blocks directly and use GRK to find the target sub-block in one time. In this paper we prove that the latter is faster [makes less queries to the oracle].

Automated search for supernovae

SciTech Connect

This thesis describes the design, development, and testing of a search system for supernovae, based on the use of current computer and detector technology. This search uses a computer-controlled telescope and charge coupled device (CCD) detector to collect images of hundreds of galaxies per night of observation, and a dedicated minicomputer to process these images in real time. The system is now collecting test images of up to several hundred fields per night, with a sensitivity corresponding to a limiting magnitude (visual) of 17. At full speed and sensitivity, the search will examine some 6000 galaxies every three nights, with a limiting magnitude of 18 or fainter, yielding roughly two supernovae per week (assuming one supernova per galaxy per 50 years) at 5 to 50 percent of maximum light. An additional 500 nearby galaxies will be searched every night, to locate about 10 supernovae per year at one or two percent of maximum light, within hours of the initial explosion.

Leptoquark searches in TESLA

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Leptoquark searches are considered for possible future e + e and e experiments at TESLA. Expected exclusion limits from direct leptoquark searches are compared with indirect limits expected from the contact interaction analysis. If the leptoquark signal suggested by the existing data is detected at LHC, with mass below 1 TeV, TESLA will be an ideal place to study its properties, provided that the leptoquark Yukawa coupling is not too small. Key words: Leptoquarks, Future colliders, Searches PACS: 12.60.i, 14.80.j 1 Introduction New result on atomic parity violation (APV) in Cesium and unitarity of the CKM matrix, as well as recent LEP2 hadronic cross-section measurements indicate possible deviations from the Standard Model predictions. Exchange of leptoquark type objects has been proposed as a possible explanation for these eects (1). If the observed signal is real it should become clearly visible in future colliders. The aim of the present analysis is to estimate leptoquark ...

–1– FREE QUARK SEARCHES

E-Print Network (OSTI)

The basis for much of the theory of particle scattering and hadron spectroscopy is the construction of the hadrons from a set of fractionally charged constituents (quarks). A central but unproven hypothesis of this theory, Quantum Chromodynamics, is that quarks cannot be observed as free particles but are confined to mesons and baryons. Experiments show that it is at best difficult to “unglue” quarks. Accelerator searches at increasing energies have produced no evidence for free quarks, while only a few cosmic-ray and matter searches have produced uncorroborated events. This compilation is only a guide to the literature, since the quoted experimental limits are often only indicative. Reviews

Search for Gluonic Excitations

SciTech Connect

Studies of meson spectra via strong decays provide insight regarding QCD at the confinement scale. These studies have led to phenomenological models for QCD such as the constituent quark model. However, QCD allows for a much richer spectrum of meson states which include extra states such as exotics, hybrids, multi-quarks, and glueballs. First discussion of the status of exotic meson searches is given followed by a discussion of plans at Jefferson Lab to double the energy of the machine to 12 GeV, which will allow us to access photoproduction of mesons in search for gluonic excited states.

The SARG Planet Search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

In this chapter of the book "Planets in binaries" we summarize our recent work on the statistical properties of planets in binaries and the differences with respect to planets orbiting single stars. We then present the radial velocity planet search on moderately wide binaries with similar components (twins) ongoing at TNG using the high resolution spectrograph SARG. We discuss the sample selection, the observing and analysis procedures, and the preliminary results of the radial velocity monitoring. We also discuss the second major science goal of the SARG survey, the search for abundance anomalies caused by the ingestion of planetary material by the central star, considering the two samples of twins and the planet hosts in binaries with similar components. Finally, we present some preliminary conclusions on the frequency of planets in binary systems.

Berkeley automated supernova search

SciTech Connect

The Berkeley automated supernova search employs a computer controlled 36-inch telescope and charge coupled device (CCD) detector to image 2500 galaxies per night. A dedicated minicomputer compares each galaxy image with stored reference data to identify supernovae in real time. The threshold for detection is m/sub v/ = 18.8. We plan to monitor roughly 500 galaxies in Virgo and closer every night, and an additional 6000 galaxies out to 70 Mpc on a three night cycle. This should yield very early detection of several supernovae per year for detailed study, and reliable premaximum detection of roughly 100 supernovae per year for statistical studies. The search should be operational in mid-1982.

Beam-stack search: Integrating backtracking with beam search

E-Print Network (OSTI)

We describe a method for transforming beam search into a complete search algorithm that is guaranteed to find an optimal solution. Called beam-stack search, the algorithm uses a new data structure, called a beam stack, that makes it possible to integrate systematic backtracking with beam search. The resulting search algorithm is an anytime algorithm that finds a good, sub-optimal solution quickly, like beam search, and then backtracks and continues to find improved solutions until convergence to an optimal solution. We describe a memory-efficient implementation of beam-stack search, called divide-and-conquer beam-stack search, as well as an iterative-deepening version of the algorithm. The approach is applied to domain-independent STRIPS planning, and computational results show its advantages.

MINOS Sterile Neutrino Search

SciTech Connect

The Main Injector Neutrino Oscillation Search (MINOS) is a long-baseline accelerator neutrino experiment designed to measure properties of neutrino oscillation. Using a high intensity muon neutrino beam, produced by the Neutrinos at Main Injector (NuMI) complex at Fermilab, MINOS makes two measurements of neutrino interactions. The first measurement is made using the Near Detector situated at Fermilab and the second is made using the Far Detector located in the Soudan Underground laboratory in northern Minnesota. The primary goal of MINOS is to verify, and measure the properties of, neutrino oscillation between the two detectors using the {nu}{sub {mu}} {yields} V{sub {tau}} transition. A complementary measurement can be made to search for the existence of sterile neutrinos; an oft theorized, but experimentally unvalidated particle. The following thesis will show the results of a sterile neutrino search using MINOS RunI and RunII data totaling {approx}2.5 x 10{sup 20} protons on target. Due to the theoretical nature of sterile neutrinos, complete formalism that covers transition probabilities for the three known active states with the addition of a sterile state is also presented.

Quantum search on graphene lattices

E-Print Network (OSTI)

We present a continuous-time quantum search algorithm on a graphene lattice. This provides the sought-after implementation of an efficient continuous-time quantum search on a two-dimensional lattice. The search uses the linearity of the dispersion relation near the Dirac point and can find a marked site on a graphene lattice faster than the corresponding classical search. The algorithm can also be used for state transfer and communication.
