Citation Analysis Method - Solid-State Lighting

NLE Websites -- All DOE Office Websites (Extended Search)

2 2 | Headline News | Tracking Reports | Hot Technical Papers | Citation Analysis Method | Credits & Disclaimer | CITATION ANALYSIS METHODOLOGY To examine emerging science and technology knowledge domains that may someday intersect solid-state lighting, we used a citation analysis method similar to that pioneered by the Institute of Scientific Information (ISI). (For more information, see ISI's in-cites website). The analysis below was conducted in August of 2004 and will be updated periodically. First, we searched the ISI database for recent technical articles (from January 2002 on) containing key words associated with solid-state lighting. Second, we made a scatter plot of the number of citations* to these articles as a function of publication date. On that plot, we draw a curve

Statistical Physics of Citations

SciTech Connect

This talk will begin with basic empirical facts about the network of scientific citations, based on the entire corpus of Physical Review publications from the past 110 years. Intriguingly, the evolution of citations appears to be described by linear preferential attachment. A master equation approach will be developed to characterize this popularity-driven network. One basic attribute is the citation distribution of the network, namely, the probability that a publication has a given number of citations. The conditions that give rise to exponential, power-law, or more singular citation distributions will be elucidated. Comparison between the theory and the citation data of Physical Review will be made. Finally, the Google page-rank algorithm will be used to uncover hidden gems within Physical Review publications.

Awards and Citations

NLE Websites -- All DOE Office Websites (Extended Search)

Awards and Citations Awards and Citations Art Rosenfeld, director of the Center for Building Science, has received the Department of Energy's 1993 Sadi Carnot Award for lifetime achievement in the field of energy conservation and renewable energy. During a 20-year career in the energy-efficiency field, he has contributed to both major analytical advances in energy analysis and practical programs designed to improve efficiency. He also helped develop the concepts of least-cost energy services and conservation supply curves, the two most widely used tools for least-cost utility planning. In 1975, Rosenfeld began a campaign to simulate building energy use more accurately; this effort evolved into the DOE-2 whole-building simulation program, now the international standard for simulating building energy use.

The Energy Citations Database makes searchable over two million bibliographic citations for energy and energy related STI from the Department of Energy (DOE) and its predecessor agencies. This search is powered by traditional Web-based architecture. That is, a database and a set of citations are made searchable by a series of dynamic Web pages with persistent URLs (Web addresses). If a citation has associated full text then that content is also indexed and made searchable. The information consumer may perform a search against the entire record, both bibliographic citations and their associated full text, from the Basic Search feature. In addition, the user may perform fine grain searches by specific bibliographic citation fields and/or full text via the Fielded

Citation Environment of Angewandte Chemie

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Recently, aggregated journal-journal citation networks were made accessible from the perspective of each journal included in the Science Citation Index see (http://www.leydesdorff.net/). The local matrices can be used to inspect the relevant citation environment of a journal using statistical analysis and visualization techniques from social network analysis. The inspection gives an answer to the question what the local impact of this and other journals in the environment is. In this study the citation environment of Angewandte Chemie was analysed. Angewandte Chemie is one of the prime chemistry journals in the world. Its environment was compared with that of the Journal of the American Chemical Society. The results of the environment analyses give a detailed insight into the field-embeddedness of Angewandte Chemie. The impacts of the German and international editions of this journal are compared.

Take Notes from Corn Hybrid Plots

E-Print Network (OSTI)

Corn harvest is slow to get going this year, with only 5 % of the states crop reported harvested as of 24 Sep (USDA-NASS, 25 Sep 2006). The causes of the slow start to harvest are slower than normal maturation of the grain (Fig 1), cool temperatures (slower grain drying), and muddy field conditions due to the continuing pattern of frequent rains. The slow pace of corn harvest coupled with the poor stalk quality in some fields (Nielsen, 2006) reminds us how spoiled we were with generally good harvest conditions of the past two seasons. But, that is not the point of this article. Fig. 1. Percent of Indianas corn crop that is rated mature and safe from frost, as of 24 Sep 2006. Data source: USDA-NASS. Chiral Nonanalytic Behaviour: The Edinburgh Plot

E-Print Network (OSTI)

The Edinburgh Plot is a scale independent way of presenting lattice QCD calculations over a wide range of quark masses. In this sense it is appealing as an indicator of how the approach to physical quark masses is progressing. The difficulty remains that even the most state of the art calculations are still at quark masses that are too heavy to apply dimensionally-regulated chiral perturbation theory. We present a method allowing predictions of the behaviour of the Edinburgh plot, in both the continuum, and on the lattice.

Geopressured geothermal bibliography. Volume 1 (citation extracts)

DOE Green Energy (OSTI)

This bibliography was compiled by the Center for Energy Studies at The University of Texas at Austin to serve as a tool for researchers in the field of geopressured geothermal energy resources. The bibliography represents citations of papers on geopressured geothermal energy resources over the past eighteen years. Topics covered in the bibliography range from the technical aspects of geopressured geothermal reservoirs to social, environmental, and legal aspects of tapping those reservoirs for their energy resources. The bibliography currently contains more than 750 entries. For quick reference to a given topic, the citations are indexed into five divisions: author, category, conference title, descriptor, and sponsor. These indexes are arranged alphabetically and cross-referenced by page number.
