Dr. James Casey is the director of External Research, Emerging
Technology, at Eastman Chemical
Company in Kingsport, Tenn.
Since joining the Eastman Chemical Company Research Laboratories
in 1969, he has completed various assignments of increasing
responsibility and has served as director of the Fibers and
Engineering Research divisions. He has also completed assignments
on the Eastman Chemical General Management staff and the Research
and Development staff. His present appointment began in 1994.
Casey’s technical interests include chemical and polymer
synthesis, polymer rheology and morphology, environmental
technology, chemical process synthesis and optimization, and
technology transfer methodology.
Casey is a native of Memphis, Tenn. He received his B.S., M.S.,
and Ph.D. degrees in chemical engineering from the University of
Tennessee, Knoxville. At Tennessee, he held a NASA fellowship and
pursued graduate research in polymer rheology.
He is a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers
and the Council for Chemical Research. He also is a member of Tau
Beta Pi, Sigma Xi, and Phi Kappa Phi honorary societies.
