Configuring QT to Handle Firewall Issues
The default QuickTime streaming transport setting is "Automatically determine
the best protocol and port ID", which doesn't work with some networks. To
overcome this problem, use the steps below:
- Double-click on the new QuickTime Player icon on your desktop.
- Go to Edit
Preferences
QuickTime Preferences. This opens the QuickTime Settings window.

Choose Streaming Transport from the pull-down menu.
- Select Use this protocol and port ID:
- Select Use HTTP, Port ID:
- Select 80.

- Now choose Connection Speed from the QuickTime Settings pull-down menu.
- Select your connection speed from the second pull-down menu.

- Close the settings box and close QuickTime.
You're now ready to stream QuickTime video!
