From Snowflake Science to the NanoSHIELD, DOE looking good in coveted R&D 100 Awards

A remarkably small microwave antenna is among ORNL's nine R&D 100 award-winning technologies.

From Snowflake Science to the NanoSHIELD, DOE researchers have won 36 of the highly coveted 100 awards given out this year by R&D Magazine. The awards are given annually for the most outstanding technology developments with promising commercial potential. "Congratulations to this year's R&D 100 award winners," said Energy Secretary Steven Chu (see press release). "The research and development at the Department of Energy’s laboratories continue to help the nation meet our energy challenges, strengthen our national security and improve our economic competitiveness."
