Description/Abstract:Rock chips from depths of 1380 to 1478 m from the State of California Well No. 1 in the Salton Sea Geothermal Field were examined using conventional petrographic, x-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy techniques. Mineral composition, pore configuration and the nature of the fine-grained matrix materials were determined.
