Student Advisor
(Term, Full-time to August 10, 2012)
Reporting to the Student Recruitment and Advising Manager, the Student Advisor proactively
engages and supports students in a learning process that allows and encourages them to take
increased responsibility for their academic progress and success in the development of personal
educational plans. The Student Advisor is responsible for the delivery of advising services in one-to-
one and group advising sessions and for the development of advising resources and publications
resulting in continuous improvement of advising services. The Student Advisor serves as a
facilitator, a communicator and an agent of referral.
Specific Duties Include:
Processing official degree audits: working with Banner and the CAPP modules to officially
determine whether students meet degree requirements for graduation purposes
Student Support and Advising: assisting students on academic probation, liaising and directing
to services offered in Student Success and other UNBC departments; assist in reviewing official
university communication with students to ensure they understand the materials being
presented; complete confirmation of enrolments for students, declaration of degrees, and official
Letters of Permission
