Abstract. We report the discovery of cool, prominence­
like material embedded in the hot corona of the rapidly
rotating dMe flare/spot variable, HK Aqr. Using these ob­
servations we demonstrate that, unlike the case of the
rapidly rotating K dwarf, AB Dor, these features form well
below the co­rotation radius. Rather they have dimensions
between 3--20 times those of the very largest solar promi­
