Abstract
In this work we carefully derive accurate asymptotic expansions of the electric and mag-
netic elds, the resonant frequencies, and the scattering amplitude in the practically interesting
situation, where a number of dielectric objects of small diameter and with dierent material
characteristics are imbedded in an otherwise smooth medium.
Key words. Helmholtz equation, Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic elds, resonant fre-
quencies, scattering amplitude, small dielectric inhomogeneities.
