OFDM Signals and its main features
Pre-Lab:
Make sure to read about the OFDM modulation along with the specifications of the Wlan
PHY layer.
1. Understanding and analyzing the OFDM
a. Generating and receiving an OFDM signal, and apply the frequency and time
domain analysis.
The objective of this part is to generate a simple OFDM signal using the standard of
IEEE 802.11g.
Use the ESG to generate the WiFi OFDM signal through the signal studio (make sure that
you transmit a OFDM WiFi signal not a DSSS signal, please refer to the TA). Use 1 GHz
as your central frequency, 0dBm.
Tune to your signal to receive it through the VSA and examine it in the frequency and
time domains. (Refer to figure 3)
Measure The SNR of the signal.
Measure the bandwidth of the signal.(why it's not 20Mhz?)
Measure the dynamic range of the signal and the PAPR using the time domain
window. What is the effect on the transceiver system?
