The Computer Vision Systems course is a follow-up to a number of graduate as well as
undergraduate courses including pattern recognition, data mining, computer vision,
digital image and video processing, and other related courses.
The course will begin with a review of the material covered in EE 380L (Pattern
Recognition) followed by the topics:
(i) unsupervised learning and clustering
(ii) non-metric methods
(iii) linear discriminant functions
from the book Pattern Classification by Duda, Hart and Stork, Wiley 2000. Review and
new material are motivated by: (i) the extensive use of Bayesian Decision Theory, PCA
and HMM and other similar tools in Computer Vision Systems and (ii) the diversity of
