Case Studies
Promoting employability to students is the cornerstone of our teaching strategy.
We are committed to providing a learning environment where our students
can develop key transferable skills (self-management, team working, business
and customer awareness, problem solving, communication, numeracy and
IT) as part of their chosen degree subject. We assess our students through
a combination of innovative and more traditional assessment methods
(wikis, e-portfolios, video production, reflective essays, policy reports, group
presentations, dissertations, essays and exams) thus preparing them for a
competitive graduate work environment. We also offer a diverse range of work
placement/internship/volunteering opportunities - in a number of different
sectors - to help our students develop their CVs and take ownership of their
career futures.
Study abroad opportunities are embedded in many of our degree
programmes. All students studying for a BA in Modern Languages (French,
German, Italian and Spanish) or a BA in Translation Studies are required to
