Barbara Rose Lange gave the presentation
"Slovak Musical Self-Confidence" at the
inaugural meetings of the Society for
Ethnomusicology Southern Plains Chapter
at the University of Texas at Austin on
April 19th
.
Jennifer Dennison won third prize in the
2008 Ruth Burr Awards Competition for
Instrumentalists sponsored by the Houston
Tuesday Musical Club at the Museum of
Fine Art's Brown Auditorium on April 12th
.
Ms. Dennison is currently pursuing a
Master's degree in clarinet performance
(studio of Randall Griffin). The
competition was open to contestants from
19 29 years of age who are Houston
residents or currently enrolled in a Houston-
