The original signal represents three segments: left band bounded-right at 1n , the
middle band bounded-left by 1n and bounded-right by 2n , and right band bounded-
left by 2n . Both entries are contaminated by impulse noise: one at the position
31 -n and the other at 12 +n (see Fig. 1(a)). The result of separate filtering with a
