ABSTRACT
A new approach of frequency grid management
during the design of digital filters is presented. The
technique uses a genetic algorithm, for a single-
stage design of digital IIR filters with finite
wordlength, which performs a two-stage fitness
evaluation. The first performed on a coarse
frequency grid. Whereas the second being performed
on a relatively denser scale. The results obtained
indicate a significant reduction in computational
overhead.
