Summary: CHEN 3600 FA11 Exam II: Reloaded
This "homework" assignment is to be solved individually. No group efforts allowed. There is
no partial credit on this assignment. A (significant) fraction of your score on this homework
will be added into your exam II score. This is a ONE TIME ONLY opportunity. Use "Cell
Mode" and "Publish" to make standard output. Make sure that your function files are
pasted in as comments in connection with the problem they address.
No partial credit on this assignment. Use conventional notation for all
variables you assign.
1. (25 pts. total) The following equations were developed in connection with an analysis
of a three part mechanical linkage system. Find the angles 1 and 2 that are consistent
with the r and a information `preloaded' into your exam script. You must pass r and
a as vectors into your function(s) through fsolve for this solution in order to get credit
for this problem. Assume that the values in r and a will be changed (slightly) in order
to test your solution. Make sure your angles are in the range of 0 to 90 degrees.
r1 = a1 cos(1) + a2 cos(1 + 2)
r2 = a1 sin(1) + a2 sin(1 + 2)
2. (25 pts. total) Prepare a MATLABR
function Mfile (not an anonymous or inline
function) that accepts one scalar number as its argument and returns a square matrix
that is one more than twice the input number in size. Let the elements of this ma
